Time to read 2 min

As a troop leader, you’re probably always looking for new, fun ways to involve physical activity in your meetings. Your troop has probably played hopscotch, jumped rope, and even ran laps, but they may not find those activities exciting after a while. To help curb the old and get the girls moving with something new, here are 5 fun physical activities to keep your troop happy and in tip-top health.

1. Connect The Dots

While connecting the dots is not a normal physical activity, this game has a twist. Traditional exercises combined with a connect the dots puzzle is what you’ll find in this fun physical activity.

Simply, have your students complete each exercise 10 times. Once they do, they can connect the dots corresponding to that specific exercise. Once they have finished all of their exercises, they will have a fun picture! Click here to get a free connect the dots printable.

2. Bingo Burst

Bingo burst puts a fun twist on the traditional game of bingo. This free printable will give your troop members an exercise that corresponds with a letter in the word BINGO. Once they finish the exercise, they will get to color in the corresponding letter. Get a BINGO when you finish all of the exercises. Seeing who can get BINGO first is also a great way to create friendly competition between your troop members.

3. Simon Says

Simon says is a traditional children’s game where “Simon,” the leader, makes movements that the children must imitate, but only when the leader says the phrase “Simon says” before doing the action.

Playing a traditional game of Simon says is a great way to incorporate physical activity into your troop meetings. Consider making all of what Simon says physical exercises, such as jumping jacks or push-ups. This is a great way to make exercise fun.

4. 100 Point Challenge

The 100 point challenge printable is a fun and fast-paced activity that encourages kids to do activities that are equivalent to points. This activity can take hours when completed alone, but completing this as a troop will only take a few minutes. Divide up the activities between troop members and see how fast the team can get to 100 points. This will also encourage teamwork within the group.

5. Sack Race

Sack races are a classic way to have fun while getting in a bit of exercise. Use pillows as sacks and create a path for your troop members to race down. This is a great way for your members to get their wiggles and giggles out before a meeting starts, plus it is a great friendly competition!
