Write a Real Author Who Scribes For a Living

Are you looking for new exciting ways to learn more about writing? Did you ever think you could write an author and actually get a response. Rachele the writer of “You Throw Like a Girl” does just that. Because getting to read a book and write a letter to the author is a fun one and this author loves writing to troops! Learn how to write a real author.

Change Up Your Writing Style

Here is a quick video showing you different ways to change up your writing style and make your scribes look completely different.

Using a different writing style you could write a personal letter to someone. Writing a letter is a great way to practice your writing skills and express your thoughts and feelings. You can write to a friend or family member, a pen pal, or even a fictional character. Make sure to introduce yourself and explain why you’re writing the letter. Share stories, thoughts, or questions that you have, and be sure to ask for a response.

When writing a letter, keep in mind the tone and voice you want to convey. Are you writing a serious letter or a lighthearted one? Are you writing as yourself or in the voice of a fictional character? Whatever your approach, be authentic and true to your unique writing style.

Once you’ve written your letter, take a moment to proofread and make any necessary edits. Then, send it off and wait for a response. Writing letters can be a fun and rewarding way to connect with others and practice your writing skills.

Journal Writing

Now it is time to focus on developing your skills as a writer. One of the most effective ways to do this is by keeping a journal. This may sound simple but it’s a powerful tool for any writer.

A journal is a place to capture your thoughts, ideas, and observations as they come to you throughout the day. It’s a way to document your experiences and emotions, which can later be channeled into your writing. It’s also a way to practice your writing on a daily basis, without the pressure of crafting a complete story or article.

By keeping a journal, you’ll start to notice things you might have otherwise overlooked. You’ll begin to see the world with a writer’s eye- noticing details and nuances that might make great additions to your writing. The more you observe, the richer your writing will become.

How to Journal:

First you will want to get some writing paper – instead of boring old notebooks you could get each girl their very own journal to write in.

Interview Someone

You may be wondering who to interview, but the truth is, you can interview anyone! It can be a family member, a friend, a teacher or even a stranger.

Interviewing someone is a great way to get to know them better, and to find out about their experiences, opinions, and ideas. Not only will this activity help you develop your writing skills, but it can also help you become more empathetic and understanding towards others.

When conducting an interview, it’s important to ask open-ended questions that invite the other person to share their thoughts and feelings. Some good questions to ask include:

  • What inspired you to pursue your career/hobby/passion?
  • What challenges have you faced, and how have you overcome them?
  • What’s one thing you wish you had known when you were my age?
  • What advice would you give to someone starting out in your field?

Listening carefully to the answers and following up with additional questions can help you get even more out of the interview.

Pinterest Board

Another resource that has always helped me in planning is Pinterest – I found some great ideas and added to a Junior Scribe Pinterest boards that are specifically targeted toward this writing.

By participating in these writing activities, you can grow your skills and earn The Junior Scribe Badge. Remember to have fun and let your creativity flow. Start today and see where your writing takes you!

What do we do after your girls complete the activities?

Well of course give them the Junior Scribe badge to display proudly on their vest, they earned it! Additionally If you are like many leaders we want to award our girls when they complete something even beyond just the patch. One great way to show achievement is with a certificate. Don’t worry you don’t have to make them, I found a resource that has done all the work for you and all you have to do is print them and customize the certificates with each girl’s name, badge or award earned, date, and troop leader.
